Ultimate Horror Tower Defense Units Tier List (With Reasons)

Wondering what units are the best for your Horror Tower Defense build? You came to the right place.

Horror Tower Defense really shines with its theme but the unit ratings follow the same principles of many Roblox TD games. Youā€™ll notice that the best units here are the ones that are highly flexible or do a specific job exceptionally well. Hereā€™s my best Horror Tower Defense tier list.

Best Horror Tower Defense Unit Tier List

Iā€™ll rate units from S-Tier to D-Tier based on how well they deal with crowds and bosses, how flexible they are, and their stats and abilities. Note that some Rare units are exceptionally powerful starters so youā€™ll notice some are ranked higher than Epics or even Exclusives. Essentially, I ranked Horror Tower Defense units based on how well they fulfilled roles like boss killer DPS, AOE DPS, and starter.

S Tier HTD Units

These are units that are a must-include in any lineup and are great for any level and any build:

  • Dracula (Secret): Dracula is easily the most powerful unit when it comes to stats and progression. But the reason heā€™s in S-Tier is due to his powerful AOE DPS that annihilates crowds. Never start with Dracula, but if you can survive to get him going, itā€™s an instant win.
  • Golden Freddy (Exclusive): Freddy is incredibly potent when combined with other powerhouse units like Dracula since he can hold them in place. Overall the best support in the game.
  • Herbot (Nightmare): I prefer Herbot slightly over Puppet even though theyā€™re both S-Tier because Herbot has excellent AOE damage. You really need AOE damage in tougher levels.
  • Puppet (Nightmare): Puppet is the ultimate boss-killer due to his range and attack speed. If this game were just about high HP single target enemies, Puppet is the best unit in the game.

A Tier HTD Units

These units can be as powerful as S-Tier ones, but they require just a bit of setup first to get going:

  • Foxy (Mythic): Foxy sports high AOE damage with around 700+ DPS which is higher than Burntrap so sheā€™s a great DPS unit to take into any level.
  • Golden Slasher (Exclusive): Slasher is underrated. He might not have the best damage in the game, but that AOE stun would be brutal if you could play around him.
  • X (Nightmare): Donā€™t get me wrong, Mr X deals a lot of damage. Itā€™s just that when it comes to Nightmare units, heā€™s not as good as Herbot and Puppet. He would be better with AOE.
  • Burntrap (Mythic): Similar to Foxy but faster with a little less DPS.
  • Golden Ghost Woman (Exclusive): Out of all the Exclusives, this is one of the better ones for pure damage and boosting the damage of other units.
  • Freddy (Legendary): Freddyā€™s support power that we mentioned above is worth it even if you donā€™t have the golden version.

B Tier HTD Units

B-Tier units are excellent choices for any level for specific categories like starters or if you donā€™t have some of the units above:

  • Ghost Woman (Legendary): If you donā€™t have the above damage options, Ghost Woman does that job for you with some great DPS boosts with any trait.
  • Slasher (Legendary): Slasherā€™s AOE stun is incredible, even if you donā€™t have the golden version.
  • Skeleton (Rare): With the new buffs, Olā€™ Skelly is incredible as a starter. Especially if you can get a Haunted version. Easily the best Rare unit and can even compete with higher rarities with stable DPS and clean-up potential. I soloed some Chapter 3 levels with just Skeletons.
  • Zombie (Rare): Zombie and Skeletons are the best starters in the game if you can get a Haunted version.

C Tier HTD Units

Here we have mid options that can be decent but just lack the raw flexibility of the higher-ups:

  • Golden Pyramid (Exclusive): Pyramid Head fans donā€™t hate me, but this dude is just so slow to get going. You basically have to calculate his upgrades so that you can get him to one-shot enemies. If he takes two hits to kill weaker mobs because theyā€™re stuck at 10 to 20 HP, youā€™re losing a lot of DPS. His on-hit stun is great, but I just wouldnā€™t make my build around him if I had a choice and would focus on other units. That said, with the right build, he becomes a higher-tier unit.
  • Ghost (Epic): Just a reliable support DPS option if you donā€™t have anything better.
  • Hockey Mask (Epic): Similar to Pyramid as an alternative option.

D Tier HTD Units

These units are just mechanically inferior to those above or are really slow to get going at a higher difficulty level:

  • Pyramid Enforcer (Epic): Heā€™s ranked in D-Tier for the same reason as the Golden version, but this one has worse stats.
  • The Mask (Rare): The Mask is stuck in a place where heā€™s not the best starter but canā€™t compete with higher-tier units for DPS. Overall, pick something else if you can.
  • Chica (Rare): Chica is similar to The Mask. Sheā€™s excellent early for AOE damage until you can get some better units, though.
