Lots of noise was made about the price of the PlayStation Vita memory cards. I didn’t love the reaction, and that was mostly because it was based on a retailer’s early listings. Of course, that’s all we had at the time to go on.

Now that we’ve got the official launch details from Sony, we can see that the MSRP on the Vita memory cards won’t burn as much. They’re not exactly cheap, but they’re not criminally overpriced either. A 4GB memory card has a MSRP of only $19.99. That’s quite a bit better than the $29.99 that we first heard.

In case you missed the official word from Sony, here are the card prices:

  • 4GB – $19.99
  • 8GB – $29.99
  • 16GB – $59.99
  • 32GB – $99.99

Yes, I know that SD cards are cheaper. But these prices aren’t as bad as we first feared, and I’m sure you’ll see some SanDisk third-party offerings later on that are closer to what you’d feel comfortable paying for memory.

Here’s the other thing: Videogames cost money. C’mon, you know that.
