Come November 12, Xbox One users will see a major overhaul to the system’s interface. That’s because the New Xbox One Experience will have launched, and it largely does away with the layout that has graced the console for the past two years. Changes are scary, but we can get through them together.

To help prepare you for the update, Microsoft has released two videos that outline how the Xbox One’s Home and Guide sections work. Intuitive has never been used to explain the Xbox One’s UI, and that more or less remains the case. It’ll take a bit of getting used to and a few “how the fuck do I…” moments.

I’ve had the new dashboard for almost a month now through the Preview program. I’m still not sure what I think of it. It can be sluggish at times (particularly the Guide), and that’s usually immediately after booting up the console. But, it probably makes more sense than the old layout, which took a lot of time to get used to. This one also has a learning curve, but it’s not as steep or long. Hey, at least we get backward compatibility out of this update.
