Helldivers 2 players succeed in their rescue operation, with the dev donating to charity and hinting the mines aren’t out of reach yet

To Marfark!

Helldivers 2 players have successfully rescued a hospital full of sick children, rather than unlocking a mine Stratagem. Wow, after typing that out, it really wasn’t much of a moral dilemma after all. Arrowhead is celebrating by donating to charity, while hinting that players can still earn the mines.

The donation news reached divers via a message dropped by CCO Johan Pilestedt on X. Following the liberation of Vernen Wells, Arrowhead Games donated $4,311 to Save the Children.

For those wondering, 4,311 looks like “HELL” when punched into a calculator. It’s also the number of kids rescued from the in-game hospital.

The donation to Save the Children was warmly embraced by many members of the Helldivers 2 community, some of whom also donated to the foundation not long after hearing the notice. Another member suggested a new cape to celebrate the victory. I have to put my vote in for the one below, for hitting me right in the nostalgia.

Helldivers 2 players get one more shot at earning the mines Stratagem

Even though Helldivers 2 players opted to save Vernen Wells over Marfark, the Major Order still has less than a day before ending — as of this writing. When asked, Pilestedt confirmed that players can still earn the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines Stratagem so long as they can liberate Marfark in the small window of time. Apparently, the game’s DM Joel said “they never will,” which sounds to me like a challenge.

Helldivers 2 players in the community have quickly turned their gaze to Marfark in hopes that they can earn the Stratagem before it slips through their fingers for the third time.

I have a feeling that if players fail to earn the Stratagem again, it probably won’t be the last it gets dangled in their faces. At this point, divers unable to unlock the Anti-Tank Mines have become something of an inside joke, possibly to the chagrin of the devs who worked on the Stratagem. There’s always next time. Maybe.
