Helldivers 2 players are pulling a pincer movement to annihilate the bots once and for all

The Automatons are trapped.

In an unprecedented move in Helldivers 2 history, players have decided to attempt to trap the remaining Automaton forces in the galaxy with a pincer movement.

Right now, players are fighting for Super Earth in the final Automaton sector in the Helldivers 2 galaxy. This is the final phase of Operation Swift Disassembly, requiring them to liberate three planets. With two down, players are making the unexpected move to skirt around the second world in order to perform a pincer move that will trap the Automatons between two Helldiver fronts.

After successfully liberating Maia on Friday, Helldivers 2 players were set to move on to Durgen, the next planet in a line of three that is the last we need to conquer. However, upon logging in yesterday and seeing where most players were dropping, the community decided to push for Tibit next before turning around and attacking Durgen from both sides.

Initially, you can check where most players are in-game, but Helldivers.io also provides a fantastic overview. This is the map traditionally used to check supply lines between planets, but in this case, it’s a great way to ensure you’re moving with the majority of players to help everyone complete the current Major Order faster.

As you can see in the image above, this pincer movement takes players away from the most logical next planet. Another reason it would make more sense to tackle Durgen first is because of supply lines. The Automatons could cut us off from Durgen if they attack Malevelon Creek, Tibit, and its neighboring world. This maneuver could cost players everything, or it could be the greatest battle strategy employed in the game to date.

Players in the community have pointed out that this move doesn’t make much sense, but no one seems to care. Based on my time fighting across Durgen and Tibit, I feel as though Tibit was the next best choice, so we could get it out of the way. It’s a nightmare to battle on because of the dense vegetation and the way the Automatons are so dug into every crack and crevice on the surface.

When I checked in again today, Tibit was ours, and there was no sign of Automaton resistance. The pincer movement is now in action, and we’re way ahead of where we were yesterday. Of course, this could blow up in our faces. Last weekend, we saw the Automatons attack us along our supply lines and cut us off from our Major Order. The enemy could do the same today or tomorrow and derail our plans completely.

At the rate we seem to be taking Durgen, I’d say the Major Order will be completed by the end of the day unless the Automatons launch an assault and pull us away to defend another world somewhere. My money’s on Malevelon Creek because of its recent presidential recognition.
