Helldivers 2 Freedom’s Flame Warbond will at last let you bring flame-resistant armor to Hellmire next week

Got a light?

Things are about to heat up in Helldivers 2, as the latest Warbond is set to light up the galaxy with fire-based weapons and gear. Helldivers 2 – Freedom’s Flame lets you play with fire next week.

Just about everything in the Freedom’s Flame Warbond can catch enemies on fire — including your Hellpod. Dropping on bug and bot elites with a Hellpod that spits fire sounds like a hell of a way to start a party. That is unless you have allies just below.

Well, let’s just hope they’re wearing the new suits. The Warbond will include two armor sets equipped with a passive that offers 75% fire resistance. Finally, dropping into Hellmire or facing Scorcher Hulks will result in more dead enemies instead of crispy capes.

The Freedom’s Flame Warbond brings three weapons to the fray and, yes, they all shoot fire. Excellent. The SG-451 Cookout is a pump-action shotgun that showers enemies with phosphorus pellets; the FLAM-66 Scorcher is a scaled-down version of the flamethrower; and the P-72 Crisper is a flamethrower handgun. Why worry about the fire tornadoes of Hellmire when you can also call down the Incinerator flamethrower and just… be one?

The new armor sets will certainly let you be one with the flame. The I-09 Heatseeker appears to be a light armor adorned with black and red, while the (possibly heavy) I-102 Draconaught is a silver and black ensemble with yellow highlights. Both come equipped with the fire-resistant Armor Passive.

Like with Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame includes fewer weapons and armor but makes up for it with a mech skin and a little something for the ol’ Hellpod. The Booster included in the content pack is Fiery Drop, which allows your Hellpod to burn everything around it on impact. You can also get the Safety Orange skin for the Exosuit.

The Warbond also includes a smattering of extras. Capes and Player Cards are a given, as are the emotes. Helldivers should be pretty happy for the latter, though, as Arrowhead Games is finally giving them the chest bump emote they always wanted.

A drop of content to dive into

Helldivers 2 – Freedom’s Flame will go live on August 8 during a pretty exciting week for the game. Not only are players getting another Warbond after not having one in July, but it comes two days after the Escalation of Freedom update adds a massive amount of content. It’s going to be a busy week.
