Even more democracy is set to land in Helldivers 2 next week when the Democratic Detonation Warbond drops, adding explosive new ways to defend freedom to the game.
Today, Helldivers 2 players have been treated to a sneak peek at the game’s next Warbond, which is equivalent to a battle pass in many ways. the Democratic Detonation Warbond adds a slew of explosive weapons and gear for players to take into battle. So far, all explosive weaponry has been locked behind a Warbond for players who own the Deluxe Edition of the game, so this will blow the doors to explosive damage wide open.
Helldivers 2’s latest Warbond blows all others out of the water
While players have been busy tackling Phase after Phase of Operation Swift Disassembly in Helldivers 2, developer Arrowhead Game Studios decided now was the time to offer us a little boost with a look at the next Warbond. Democratic Detonation will hit the game on April 11, 2024, and bring with it some of the most incredible-looking weapons I’ve seen in the game to date.
As with the Cutting Edge Warbond, I imagine this will cost 1,000 Super Credits, which is roughly $10/Ā£10. But you don’t need to spend a penny if you’ve been working through the existing Warbonds and claiming all the Super Credits available in them. That’s one of the many fantastic things about Helldivers 2: you don’t need to spend a penny on it to get the best gear if you don’t want to.
Today’s trailer highlights a few new armor sets that look like they’re all designed to survive an Eagle 500kg Bomb. I feel like this is what we’ve needed while we’ve been fighting the Automatons, but hopefully, we can do without them for a few more days until they arrive. My favorite is the one with chunky armor plates all over it, including the Helldiver’s face.
Of course, there are some stunning new Capes to claim, but the real stars are the weapons, and I want to highlight a few. First is the GP-31 Grenade Pistol, which seems to be just as lethal as it sounds. This is a handgun that launches a grenade at enemies and destroys them in droves.
In my opinion, the best new primary weapon is the GB-9 Exploding Crossbow, because it’s an explosive crossbow. Bolts launch out of it, impale enemies, and explode after a short delay, allowing you to line up the next shot as your enemy goes up in flames.
The icing on the cake that is the Democratic Detonation Warbond in Helldivers 2 is the G-123 Thermite Grenade. This thing looks like a Morning Star and packs way more of a punch. Your Helldiver can throw it at an enemy, where it’ll attach and begin sparking away with explosive incendiary damage before finally exploding. This is the new Terminid Charger killer, and I love it.
The Democratic Detonation Warbond goes live in Helldivers 2 on April 11.
