Ah, PS2. We go way back, don’t we? I don’t even remember when I got you, though. My Dreamcast? Yes, fondly. Sega Saturn? Never forget. But you? I seriously can’t remember. But I do know that your DVD-playin’, blue-disc clickin’, sometimes overheating Japanese brethren first hit the market on March 4th, 2000, 9 years ago yesterday.

Look at you: you’re dusty, rough around the edges, and your front tray cover is falling off [cough]. But you still look good for going on 10 years now, I think. Since we’ve been together, we’ve worked through many a role-playing game, a few fighters, and a couple those silly racing games that look good but aren’t really that much fun. It’s been great, PS2.

I look at my game collection and see that your software dominates my shelves. You may be an old timer, but you’re still kicking in your line of work, and I think that’s great. 140 million or more sold? You don’t say.

Despite a few problems over the years, you continue to be reliable and relevant. I appreciate that. Your younger brother has yet to show you up. You should be proud.

Happy Birthday, PS2.

[thanks, darkair]
