This just in: Halo is popular. What, you want proof? Fine. Microsoft announced, today, that Ensemble’s Halo Wars has sold one million copies. Apparently, that cements the title as the “best-selling” RTS on any current gen console. While you could argue endlessly that console strategy games blow, it still won’t change the fact that an army of Master Chiefs just pwned the busty vixens of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3.
Microsoft didn’t stop the number announcement party there. Around 2.6 million multiplayer matches have been played since the game’s Asian release in late February, and on average, around 200,000 people compete in matches daily.
So, like I said, Halo is popular. I’m just not sure that Halo Wars is the cat’s meow, worthy of its newly-acquired best-selling status. My copy is still in the plastic, however, I look forward to the day I smash a kid online and get called every derogatory name in the book. That still happens in Halo games, right?
