This year marks the 20th anniversary ofĀ Halo, with Nov. 15 as the dateĀ Halo: CombatĀ EvolvedĀ launched. To celebrate, Microsoft and 343 Industries are rolling out a bucket-load of cosmetics forĀ Halo: The Master Chief Collection, stretching back across the franchiseā€”andĀ Microsoft‘sā€”history.

From November through January,Ā HaloĀ 20th Anniversary themed content will roll into the Master Chief Collection. These will be purchasable through Season Points, and will be added to the collection starting today with the Orion Armor set forĀ Halo 2: Anniversary.

Here’s the full rundown, via the Halo Waypoint blog:

  • November 3, 2021:Ā ā€œOrionā€ Armor Set (Helmet, Chest, Shoulders, Arms, Legs) forĀ Halo 2: Anniversary
  • November 10, 2021:Ā The Beast Back Accessory and Duke Shoulders forĀ Halo 3
  • November 17, 2021:Ā OG Xbox Assault Rifle Skin forĀ Halo 3
  • November 24, 2021:Ā Semi-Powered Infiltration ā€œMirageā€ Armor (Helmet, Chest, Shoulders, Arms, Legs) forĀ Halo 3
  • December 1, 2021:Ā OG Xbox Battle Rifle Skin and Rucksack Back Accessory forĀ Halo 3
  • December 8, 2021:Ā Hydration Container Utility Item forĀ Halo: Reach
  • December 15, 2021:Ā Fronkbox Back Accessory, Duke Shoulders, and OG Xbox Sniper Rifle skin forĀ Halo 3
  • December 22, 2021:Ā Grunt Plush and X-Pack Back Accessories and the OG Xbox Magnum Skin forĀ Halo 3
  • December 29, 2021:Ā OG Xbox Shotgun and SPNKr Skin forĀ Halo 3
  • January 5, 2022:Ā The first return of the ā€œOrionā€ armor set forĀ Halo 2: Anniversary

So yes, these range from a Clippy Nameplate featuring the plucky desktop mascot to an actual Xbox “Duke” controller, slapped onto the shoulder plates of your multiplayer Spartan. Truly embrace the Microsoft nostalgia.

All in all, it’s a pretty neat way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Halo. As we look towards Halo past, however, we must also look towardsĀ HaloĀ future; that is, of course,Ā Halo Infinite. The next entry in the series is set to launch on Dec. 8, though without some features like Forge and campaign co-op. Those will be arriving later on.

We got a look at what the single-player campaign side ofĀ Halo InfiniteĀ looks like though, and for those eager for an open-world adventure for Master Chief and his new pals, it seems like it’s set to fill that need. Chief’s next outing goes live on Dec. 8 for Xbox consoles and PC.
