Halo 5: Guardians grossed £7.7 million on day one in the UK, Microsoft has announced.

Halo 5 entered in pole position in the UK chart, selling twice as many copies as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and twice as many as 343 Industries’ previous Halo game, Halo: Master Chief Collection

While we don’t have the exact unit sales — nor the financials from anyplace else yet, either — apparently the latest Master Chief adventure grossed more on its opening day than the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, which made “only” £6.3 million.

We gave Halo 5: Guardians a 7, stating that “if it weren’t for Warzone, Halo 5: Guardians would probably be somewhere on the lower end of the franchise spectrum.”

“It’s still a fantastic and well-oiled machine, but the story falls flat, and the shift in gameplay mechanics result in the loss of some elements that made the series so unique in the first place. Still, if you’re looking to shoot some dudes online, Guardians is your huckleberry.”
