Hades 2: How to compel Shades and get Tablet of Peace

Give these Shades a new purpose.

While out causing havoc around the realms, you may stumble across a few helpless Shades. A prompt to “compel” them will appear next to them, but you’ll need a specific tool to keep them from wallowing in their sorrows. Here’s how to compel Shades inĀ Hades 2.

How to unlock compel in Hades 2

You can compel Shades withĀ theĀ Tablet of Peace,Ā which requires five Psyche and five Silver. Psyche should be easy enough to find, as it is often given as a reward. However, you will need the Crescent Pick to mine the Silver. The Night’s Craftwork can be handy for this, revealing nearby ore deposits.

After obtaining the necessary ingredients, unlock the Tablet of Peace in the Nocturnal Arms (weapons) section. Then, equip it via the Gathering Tools hub. Keep in mind that other tools like the Crescent Pick can’t be used with the Tablet of Peace equipped.Ā

There isn’t an exact location for the Shades, so you must be on the lookout for them. Once discovered, approach them to begin a short minigame. Completing this minigame is relatively easy; it only requires pressing and holding the right buttons. Just follow the prompt, which should give you a nice Psyche reward for the Arcana cards upgrade.

I tested out what happens if you fail, allowing players to make at least two attempts. However, those who are unsuccessful both times can no longer interact with the poor creature. Don’t worry; plenty of lost souls are out there, so try your luck with the next one.Ā
