True, we know it’s coming out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the release of Guitar Hero III is great news for Wii owners since a Guitar Hero game has not yet come to a Nintendo console.
What is strange about this news, though, is how it was announced. On Red Octane’s official Web site’s Support Center (huh?), someone randomly asked the company when Guitar Hero II was coming out. I guess they were stuck in a worm hole and did not realize that the PlayStation 2 version of the game came out about six months ago.
Regardless, in response to this hard-hitting inquiry, Red Octane had this to say:
Guitar Hero 2 for Playstation 2 launched 11/7/2006, Xbox 360 launched 4/3/2007 and both items are shipping now. Please check www.guitarherogame.com and www.redoctane.com for the most current information.
Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007.
Wow. Well, it’s great to know that Guitar Hero III is official and coming out for all those systems, but it just seems strange that Red Octane would just throw out this big news without so much as a bell or a whistle. No information besides the above was mentioned, so there are no details on how the game will work with the Wiimote (come on, guitar neck attachment!).
What do you think? Does this seem legit? Red Octane has mentioned that a Guitar Hero game will most likely make it to the Wii (and DS for that matter) — could this be it?
[UPDATE: OK, this may be a record. Since posting this live, Red Octane has already removed the bit about Guitar Hero III from its Web site. Hmmm, interesting. Behold, the power of Dtoid!]
