Mega Man 2 is fantastic, one of the best videogames ever made. Mega Man II on Game Boy, however, is a steaming dollop of dino poo-poo. I cannot stress how terrible it is, and it infuriates me how much it spits on the legacy of its namesake.
Among its many failings is the introduction of Quint, Mega Man of the future who Dr. Wily has captured and reprogrammed in order to battle Mega Man of the present. It ought to make for an awesome confrontation, but instead, Quint’s only attack is bouncing around on a pogo stick like a birthday party clown. What a monumental waste of potential.
Japanese hobbyist Ken Nagano has customized a Kotobukiya Mega Man model to resemble Quint, complete with the infamous pogo stick Sakugarne. As impressive and as amazing as the end result is, just looking at it fills my heart with rage over memories of an awful, awful, awful game. Ugh.
