To prepare you for this change-up, here’s when to expect Gray Zone Warfare’s first progress wipe, including details on the latest update.

GZW first progress wipe release date and expected changes

Gray Zone Warfare’s progress wipe begins on Nov. 27, 2024, the launch date of its Night Ops update. This restart will help lay the foundation for the new changes, making the transition more manageable. The only downside is you’ll need to start from scratch again, regardless of how much time you’ve put into the game. That means you’re basically beginning on Day One, wiping out most of your content.

You’ll still keep all your gear and equipment from your chosen edition. This includes Standard, Tactical, Elite, and Supporter Edition Equipment bundles. However, loot and mission progress won’t carry over.

While the wipe may necessitate more grinding time, the Night Ops update brings a plethora of new features to the table, giving players plenty to look forward to. The immersive day/night cycle, with its new threats, is a standout feature. For those wary of the dark, fear not; the new Gray Zone Warfare update introduces state-of-the-art night vision gear and a variety of light sources to discover, ensuring you’re never left in the dark.

Those who have completed most of GZW’s challenges can set their sights on Night Ops’ lineup of 22 new objectives. Plus, some tasks center around the night to heighten the thrill. Although these missions will undoubtedly be challenging, gameplay may be slightly less stressful due to the upcoming quality-of-life improvements. AI enemies, for example, have fewer chances to one-shot kill you, which became a huge issue when Gray Zone Warfare first came out. I, for one, am happy to see this change, including the progress wipe, as the game can be a tad bit too overwhelming with its highly realistic battle experience.

As confirmed by MADFINGER Games PR and Comms Director during the Night Ops World Premiere Reveal, progress wipes will be a regular feature with every major update. This reassures players that the game is constantly evolving and provides an open invitation for those who may have taken a break to return for the next Gray Zone Warfare wipe.
