After more than three years, Genshin Impact finally fixes its worst domains

Plus some other long-awaited changes.

The Genshin Impact team is delivering more quality of life updates, including some that players have been begging for for years. Weā€™ve got improvements to newer systems like Encounter Points, but developer HoYoverse also delivered fixes for old domains that have been problems since Genshin Impactā€™s 2020 release.

These changes should be coming to Genshin Impact with Version 4.8, set to release on June 17. Along with the quality of life updates outlined below, there will be a new summer-exclusive event area to explore.

Fixing old domains

The weapon and Talent domains in Mondstadt and Liyue have long been considered some of Genshin’s worst. The Cecilia Garden domain in Mondstadt has a Leyline disorder that makes character ability cooldowns twice as long. In the new update, this disorder changes to buff Electro damage, instead of extending cooldowns. Enemy lineups will also be adjusted, removing the annoying Hydro Abyss mages.

The changes to other domains havenā€™t been specified, but if theyā€™re in the same vein as Cecilia Gardenā€™s treatment, Iā€™m very hopeful! This should make farming for materials much easier, especially for new or casual players.

Long-term Encounter Points

The Encounter Points system is a somewhat recent addition to Genshin Impact that lets players complete daily commissions by participating in exploration and events instead. Starting in Version 4.8, Encounter Points you earn can be stored past the end of the day, letting you bank points to use later. If youā€™re busy on a certain day and donā€™t have time for dailies, use your stored Encounter Points to quickly get your daily rewards!

Drag character lineups in Spiral Abyss

When setting up your teams for the Spiral Abyss, you can now drag your characters to change their order. This feature has been in demand since Version 1.0, especially since most combat events allow dragging characters when setting up teams. Now, the feature has been added to the Spiral Abyss UI as well.

Review Dialogue and Hide UI

During quests, youā€™ll now be able to review character dialogue. The Dialogue Review feature pulls up a transcript of character dialogue, complete with playable voicelines. No more missing out on story beats because you accidentally clicked through the dialogue too quickly!

Youā€™ll also be able to hide the gameā€™s UI while exploring the open world of Teyvat. If you enjoy taking screenshots or want a more immersive experience, you can now remove the minimap and other UI elements from your screen.

These are all great changes that, while long overdue, show that Genshin Impact still cares about player experience. The launch of Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t appear to have dulled HoYoverse’s commitment to Genshin Impact.
