Every Genshin Impact update comes with a server maintenance period, preparing it for the game’s upcoming features. However, since downtimes can last quite a while, we’re here to explain how long Genshin Impact will be down for Version 5.0, including details on required storage space.

Genshin Impact Version 5.0 maintenance start time

According to the game’s official site, Genshin Impact 5.0 server maintenance begins on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. PST/5 p.m. CST/11 p.m. EST. It’s estimated to last five hours, but it could go on longer if other updates are needed.

To better prepare for Genshin Impact 5.0, enable the Pre-Installation mechanic to pre-load the patch. All players, including mobile, PC, and PlayStation, have this feature available to them, found on the Start Game page. If you’re an Xbox user, you’ll need to wait until Nov. 20, when Genshin Impact arrives on this platform. It’ll drop around the same time as Version 5.2, bringing new characters and quests to unlock.

After Genshin Impact 5.0 completes its maintenance period, you will receive 300 Primogems in your mailbox to compensate for the wait time. However, you must at least be Adventure Rank 5 or above and claim these rewards before Version 5.0 concludes.

What is the update size of Genshin Impact 5.0?

The Version 5.0 Update Maintenance Preview indicates that the PC pre-download is roughly 26-38 GB. Here’s a list of the recommended available storage space for a complete overview:

  • Mobile: 40 GB
  • PC: 100 GB
  • PlayStation: 120 GB

I know it’s a tall order to set aside this amount of space, but it may be the only way to access Genshin Impact 5.0’s latest features. The best you can do is prepare for its pre-load to tie up any loose ends before its launch.
