At 8AM ET
It’s really weird to be thinking about a Genshin Impact 2.0 right now, but I guess it has been nearly a year. In live service game time, that’s….a decade
Alas, Genshin Impact has been prone to many leaks in past months, but now we have official confirmation of the next big thing for Genshin: the “new version.” According to a tweet from the official miHoYo account, we’ll get a new version special announcement for Genshin Impact 2.0 on July 9 at 8AM ET. You can either watch it live on Twitch, or “the recording” four hours later on YouTube.
Based on leaks, we can likely expect an explanation of how the Inazuma region will debut in chunks of islands. Tsurumi, Serai, and Watatsumi islands will allegedly arrive first in 2.0, followed by gradual rollouts throughout 2022. More characters and enemies are also in, and there might be a city reputation system. Genshin Report broke the news if you’re inclined to check out more details.
Confusingly, 1.7 has been referred to as 2.0 for some time, due to leaks, and the formula involving new regions debuting as major patches. The rumor at the moment is that miHoYo will debut 2.0 this week, then release it on July 21 or around that time.
