Projects like Fray are part of why I’m so excited to finally own a gaming PC. (I know the game isn’t breaking new ground, visually, but my laptop runs on the blood, sweat, and tears of a finely tuned team of mice.) The strategy genre and myriad splinter-genres played a sizable role in my choice to build a PC and I can’t wait to dive in headfirst.
Fray, specifically, looks like an evolution of Frozen Synapse‘s design: You control a team of four class-based combatants who each level up and unlock new gear. The game is in alpha now with an updated build expected to drop every week. Currently, you’ll have access to 2 corporations, 6 classes, ,15+ pieces of equipment, and 2 maps. A $19.99 preorder grants you access to the alpha, and make sure to keep an eye on their Cblog right here for more info.
