Though it’s already been a whopping three years since Forza Horizon 5 first came out, the game’s still not slowing down. Quite literally, too, due to its subject matter being cars. Now, for the holiday season of 2024, developer Playground Games is kicking things off with a fancy new NISMO.
More specifically, Forza Horizon 5‘s new Horizon Holidays Mix-Up is going to give us a whole new batch of awesome new cars and a host of winter-themed events to participate in. The headliner of the fresh fleet of rides is definitely 2024’s Fairlady Z NISMO.
I’m a huge JDM fan myself, and though Nissan has certainly seen better days in the real world, this snazzy new upgrade kit for the Z has me giddy. For those who are more keen on high-end European vehicles, we’ve got some new Benz and BMW cars to choose from, and there’s more.
Forza Horizon 5’s Holidays Mix-Up starts on December 5
Kicking things off properly on December 5, the Horizon Holidays Mix-Up season is going to give players the opportunity to add the following new cars to their garages:
- December 5 – December 12 (Nissan Eazy Championship exclusive): NISMO Fairlady Z (2024)
- December 5 – December 12: Bentley Flying Spur (2021)
- December 12 – December 19: Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Wagon (2006)
- December 19 – December 26: BMW M5 CS (2022)
- December 26 – January 2: Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon (2014)
These cars will, in classic Forza Horizon FOMO fashion, only be available during their respective weeks. No dawdling if you’re intrigued by these models, in other words. Alongside getting the appropriate Championship activities cleared out, you’ll also have an opportunity to participate in a variety of winter-themed events:
- Winter Season is active for four consecutive weeks.
- Winter Wonderland Stadium (Weeks 1 and 3)
- Evolving Ice Rink (Weeks 2 and 4).
- The Flying Deutsch-Man Showcase Remix event.
- A host of thematically appropriate Accolades.
- Classic Cinema avatar outfit.
Lots to do and hunt for, then. Though, if we’re being entirely honest, the new cars are the real meat of this update if you’re a gearhead. Everything else is simply an excuse to spruce them up and take them for a spin on surfaces both grippy and slidey.
Furthermore, Playground has announced the next season, which will begin on January 2. Titled “Horizon Extreme,” its headliner vehicle will be the 1965 DeBerti Chevrolet C10, and the focus will fall squarely on ridiculous stunts and daredevil driving. Also incoming is the mysterious Midnight Muscle content update, but more on that in due time.
On a tangentially related note, don’t forget that now is the time to purchase Forza Horizon 4 if you’re even remotely interested in playing it. Playground’s previous flagship release is being permanently taken off sale on December 15, so consider this a last call before that game is forever lost to the aether. For those who are holding off for a potential remaster down the line, I wouldn’t bet on it. Remember that you can currently only access Forza Horizon 4 and 5, as well as Forza Motorsport, whereas the franchise has had no less than 13 releases in total. Due to vehicle and music licensing, these games are considered lost forever. It’s a big shame, but there’s no helping it. So, if you’d like to drive around the British countryside, now’s the time to act.
