This month in the Forums: PAX East happened, lots of highly anticipated video game releases happened, and Destructoid’s fifth anniversary happened. Some other stuff also happened, but you’ll have to read more to find out about those happenings.

I hate colds. I hate it even more when I somehow manage to get two colds back to back. I’m pretty sure there’s something in the Constitution outlawing that. Since I’m relatively convinced sinister outside forces are behind this, I’ve been doing detective work uncovering the culprits by taking a lot of sudafed and listening to old episodes of Coast to Coast AM. So far I’m managed to narrow down the suspects to chemtrails, interdimensional shadow people, and Whitley Strieber. But none of that has anything to do with the Forums!

PAX East is kind of a big thing, and lots of Dtoiders made the trek to Boston this year to get together and drink until they black out. Luckily, lots of photographic evidence was captured to commemorate the event in case of memory loss and can be found in the PAX East photo thread

PAX East also gave us a pretty cute new Forums meme: DanlJess. Here’s one of my personal favorites:

Destructoid celebrated it’s fifth anniversary, and with anniversaries come new Forum badges! This year you earn it by posting in the Who’s your favorite Dtoider? thread. Originally we unveiled the Pretzel Anniversary badge in honor of all people with good taste with the hopes that chaos would ensue and people would threaten to quit the Forums forever:

Instead half of the community thought it was awesome and the other half just grumbled about it under their breath and said it looked like a giant turd. In the future I’m going to have to ask you guys to display a bit more vitriol when we troll you; frankly I’m a little disappointed. In the meantime, here’s the racially-insensitive according to N’Gai Croal anniversary badge we finally revealed a couple of weeks later:

And yes, next year is going to be Final Fantasy VI themed. We’re extending the window to get this badge until April 16th, so if you haven’t shared the love, get cracking! Also, respect knuckles go out to Jay Hitcher for beingDestructoid’s #1 Pretzel Advocate and an inspiration to us all.

Gobun came up with a pretty awesome thread idea: custom soundtracks for various Forums members! Go visitThe Bar Soundtrack Volume Who and share your picks for songs inspired by Dtoiders. Speaking of Gobun, he sent in this rad fax during Destructoid’s April Fool’s Day celebration, and I had to share it in case you missed it.

Killzone 3 came out back in February, but the Dtoid Killzone 3 Clan has just started recruiting. Normally I’d attempt to make some sort of joke related to the game here, but I honestly have no freaking clue what this series is about. Do you play as the guys with the creepy glowing eyes and gas masks or try to kill them? Never mind, I just remembered I don’t really care.

Nintendo’s latest family-friendly cock fighting simulator Pokemon Black/White finally got released in the West, and people are all sorts of excited. Now if I only had more time to play my copy; I just got my first badge the other day. Do I eventually get to tell my annoying in-game friends to piss off and leave me alone?

Crysis 2 has finally arrived, and people were so jazzed that they kept making new threads even though we’ve already had one for nearly a year. Now they’re all merged together for your convenience. SERIOUSLY STOP MAKING NEW THREADS FOR THIS GAME GUYS!

Probably the biggest release this month was the Nintendo 3DS, which has resulted in quite a few threads. The original Official Discussion thread can be found here, but you can also visit the 3DS Launch Party to experience everyone’s first impressions with the system. Dtoider pooo also shared his sweet guide to make an inexpensive carrying case for your 3DS, and if you want to swap Friend Codes with the expectation they’ll eventually be useful beyond playing SSFIV3D, check out The Unofficial 3DS Friend Code Trading Corner

Big thanks to Aurain, Byronic Man, ClownBaby, ZombiePlatypus, and everyone else who helped contribute to theFWHT Suggestions thread this month! Now I’m going to go crawl back into bed.
