Fortnite players claim it’s ‘almost impossible’ to complete Battle Pass without spending real money

It's like working a part-time job.

Every season, Fortnite players can spend their time playing matches and grinding Quests to earn enough XP to unlock every cosmetic in the Battle Pass. This season, however, players claim it’s “almost impossible” to do it without spending real money on Tier Skips, and they’re not impressed.

With Chapter 5, Season 3 now firmly on the horizon, players only have a couple of weeks to complete their Battle Pass before the new one launches, but as Awesomedogman3 stated on Reddit, it’s proving to be an extremely difficult task to accomplish.

“XP this season is just downright awful,” they wrote. “For starters, doing the three daily match quests doesn’t even give you a full level. In fact, it only gives you 60,000 XP for doing them. Weekly Quests only give you 10,000 XP each… Last season they [were] 10,000 XP [too], but there was also a 30,000 XP one thrown in.”

“Epic’s idea to give players more XP [is to] force them to play the other garbage modes, and even then they are as bad, if not worse, than [Battle Royale]’s Quests. They also nerfed playtime XP for all those modes. I am almost certain it is almost impossible to get to level 151 without having to buy levels.”

This sentiment was echoed throughout the community, with 2tan2tame saying that “the inclusion of all the other game modes and the XP drop has made me just stop playing,” while Jimlad116 said that after having a baby with his wife, they had previously been able to get through the season pass together but are “not even close to finishing the base Battle Pass this season” and is “honestly considering just quitting the game altogether.”

I personally have felt like the Battle Pass has made the game too grindy for a long time, and haven’t purchased one in a long time. Back in the days of Chapter 1 I could easily finish a Battle Pass in a season, but with more frequent seasonal updates, and the additional XP requirements, there’s just no way I’m going to get close. I already have a full-time job, and I can’t commit to playing four hours of Fortnite on top of that just to unlock some cosmetics.

I understand that the idea of Battle Passes is to keep players hooked and coming back to your game, but there has to be a limit to this, otherwise, people will just give up and stop playing the game. It seems like Fortnite is about to reach that cliff edge, and they may need to pull back before it’s too late.
