Honestly, there’s not much of a sting…
TheĀ Final Fantasy XVIĀ Soul Stingers are probably the easiest hunt in the game. To be honest, they don’t have much of a sting as their attacks are easy to dodge. Their location, however, is a different story. Here’s where to find theĀ Final Fantasy XVI Soul Stingers and how to beat them.
To unlock the Soul Stingers hunt, you’ll need to begin the Out of the Shadow main story mission. You’ll reach this well after you initially unlock Notorious Hunts.
Soul Stingers location & directions in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)
The Soul Stingers are located in the eastern region of The Fields of Corova. You’ll have to travel a bit, as they’re far southeast of The Dalimil Inn. As a heads up, you’ll want to fast travel to The Jaw. If you try to access The Fields of Corova from The Dalimil Inn through the Southern Velkroy Desert, you’ll reach a dead end.
Go north from The Jaw, and the path will separate into three directions. Go right into The Sickle. Keep going east and take the northern path up. Now, head east into an almost France-shaped location. You’ll find the Soul Stingers when you reach the location circled in the image above.
If you’re going in the right direction, you should see five Soul Stingers swarming in the distance. Get close to them, and the battle will begin.
How to beat the Soul Stingers
The Soul Stingers are pretty easy to beat if you know what you’re doing. They’ll fly around in the air, so send a magical blast their way to stun them to the ground. Get in your best strikes, and the bugs’ HP should go down quickly. The only attack you really should be wary of is Apipuncture.Ā The stinger on the bug will illuminate in red. Be ready to dodge them when they charge towards you. Otherwise, you’ll take some nasty damage. They can be easily dodged, however, as the move is telegraphed so obviously.
Once you defeat the Soul Stingers, you’ll gain 50 Sharp Fangs, 20 Bloody Hides, 10 Magicked Ash, 400 experience, 5000 Gil, and 40 Ability Points. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, fight the Dread Comet, Flan Prince, or the badass Holy Trumpitour. They’ll give you more experience and rewards. The Soul Stingers are so easy that I question why they’re a hunt in the first place.
