Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) Sekhret location and Hunt guide

Too close to Martha’s Rest

The Final Fantasy XVI Sekhret boss is dangerously close to Martha’s Rest. You’ll need to eliminate it to save the residents of this quaint village area. You’ll also gain a Minotaur Mane for your trouble. Here’s where to find the Final Fantasy XVI Sekhret boss and how to beat it.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to finish the Fire & Ice quest and begin the After The Storm main mission to unlock this Notorious Mark. It’s pretty far into the game and is set before entering Drake’s Breath.

Before you go into the fight, buy a few Potions and High Potions. It would also help to upgrade them to restore more health.  To discover the Final Fantasy XVI Sekhret boss, you’ll want to immediately fast travel to Martha’s Rest from the world map. Once you’ve arrived, take the northern path and then go northwest as shown on the map above. You’ll find the minotaur Sekhret rampaging around the field. Thankfully, it has no minions to back itself up like the cowardly Grimalkin.

How to beat Sekhret

Sekhret works similarly to many other minotaurs in the game. They’re huge, can swing their clubs a far distance, and will charge at you. However, Sekhret is a little more challenging as it charges not just once but twice. Whenever you see it leaning forward, get ready to dodge as it will likely start to charge. A Precision Dodge will also give you an opportunity to get a few cheeky strikes in. If it does manage to hit you, prepare to take around 700-800 damage, depending on your level (Sekhret is level 31). This charge will also launch Clive into the air, so try to get a Swift Recovery once you land on the ground to avoid additional damage.

The perfect time to strike is when it plunges its club to the ground. It will be staggered, giving you ample time to dish out some special Eikon attacks like Heatwave or Thunderstorm. Wait until you’ve reduced its stamina meter and then launch your best moves, such as Judgment Bolt or Flames of Rebirth. Another tip is to use the Limit Break. It makes Sekhret’s already sluggish attacks easy to parry, allowing you to get in a few sneaky attacks during a small period of time.

Keep your distance when it uses the Big Swing attack as this is a long-range melee that can dish out a lot of damage. You can also try to parry this move, but it can be challenging. You can tell when it’s about to start its Big Swing when it puts its club above its head and spins it around. As Sekhret’s health is depleted to half, it uses a furious attack called Raging Bull. When this occurs, try to stay far away. In a big fury, it plunges the club multiple times in a tantrum with up to 1,100 damage. It’s hard to escape, and I was only able to save myself by activating the Limit Break during the end of its reckless combo.
