Yoshida mentioned that the trial will be coming with the release of patch 6.5, which isĀ expected to go live sometime in September. As is the case with most patches (even smaller ones), Square Enix is very careful in terms of when it provides exact dates (or even windows) of when updates might drop. But even still, it’s coming! And we won’t have to wait until 2024’sĀ Dawntrail expansion to take advantage of it.

Square Enix has slowly made itsĀ Final Fantasy XIV free trial more generous over the years

Originally the free trial only includedĀ A Realm Reborn (back in 2014!), but it eventually expanded toĀ Heavensward (in 2019), and now,Ā Stormblood. It would stand to reason thatĀ Shadowbringers could arrive at some point. All you free players are in for a treat if that happens!
