With the 24-hour maintenance over and Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.55 available to play, there’s a lot of new content for your Warrior of Light to explore. Here’s everything released in Patch 6.55 and where to begin.
How to start the main story quest in FFXIV patch 6.55
To start the MSQ in FFXIV Patch 6.55, head to Old Sharlayan and find Varshahn (X:4.4, Y:9.8) to pick up the quest called “When One Door Closes…”.
We already know that the Patch 6.55 MSQ quests introduce us to Wuk Lumat, thanks to the update to the Growing Light special site that dropped last week. She’s come to Old Sharlayan in order to seek counsel with Eorzea’s most revered hero.
Krile will also make her debut as a Pictomancer during the MSQ quests of Patch 6.55, so hopefully, we’ll get a closer look at the combat style we can look forward to when it becomes a playable Job in Dawntrail.
There’s no need to worry about the area becoming too congested with players rushing to complete the story quests, as the FFXIV development team have added multiple instances of the area to avoid this issue.
How to start the Hildibrand Adventures in FFXIV patch 6.55
To begin the Somehow Further Hilidrand quests for 6.55, head to Radz-at-Han and speak to Delion (X:11.4, Y:11.5) in order to pick up his quest, titled “Of Duplicity and Duplication”.
Dive back into the crazy and unpredictable world of Hildibrand as he continues “business as usual” in order to crack the case of PuPu’s missing companion. During what we now know to be the last of the Somehow Further Hildibrand quests for 6.x, we will apparently be brought “into conflict with the most meddlesome nemesis … encountered to date”.
This must be done in order to unlock The Gilded Araya, for anyone wondering where the new Trial is.
Where to find the Manderville Weapons in FFXIV patch 6.55
Once you’ve completed the final steps in Hildibrand’s Endwalker adventure, head back to Radz-at-Han and speak to Gerolt (X:12.0, Y:7.1), picking up the quest called “Resonating with Perfection”.
The final stage of the Manderville Weapons are called Mandervilious Weapons and have a shifting Blue-Purple glow.
How to start Tataru’s Grand Endeavor in FFXIV patch 6.55
Begin Tataru’s Grand Endeavor sidequests for Patch 6.55, by picking up the quest, “Treasured Bonds” from Mehdjina (X:11.8, Y:9.8) in Old Sharlayan.
Before you can pick up this quest, you must have completed the following level 90 quests:
- Growing Light
- An Auspicious Opportunity
- Forever in our Hearts
- Soaring Profits
Tataru is enjoying ‘unprecedented profits’ thanks to our realm-wide delivery service, but this time it’s not her business plans we’ll be following, as Mehdjina will be giving us some ideas and putting us to use.
Where to find the new Tribal Alliance in FFXIV patch 6.55
The new FFXIV Tribe Alliance saga begins in Ultima Thule where you’ll find Jammingway (X:27.5, Y:24.5) in A-4 Research with the “Dinner and a Show” quest.
The Tribal Alliance quests are available now as long as you’ve dragged all of the Endwalker Tribes up to the rank of Bloodsworn. I’ve already got an in-depth guide on completing the Tribal Alliance quest chain — spoiler alert, it’s worth it for the adorable Lop Hop Dance emote.
From images provided on the Growing Light special site, we already know that Jammingway is about to set foot on a journey across the realm in order to, perhaps, bring more patrons to the Last Dregs, although that remains to be seen.
Before starting this quest, you must have completed the final quest from each Endwalker Tribe:
- The Hippo Riders (Arkasodara)
- Life, the Universe, and Coffee Beans (Omicron)
- Dreams Come True (Lopporits)
A new emote has been added to the game, the Lophop, which seems most likely to be tied to these quests, although we have no confirmation of this at present.
Where to find The Gilded Araya trial in FFXIV patch 6.55
There’s another new FFXIV trial to test your might in, too, and you must complete the Manderville related quest “Of Duplicity and Duplication” before you can unlock Asura’s showdown.
For those of you who either went to Fan Fest or just kept a close eye on it, yes, this is that same trial you saw folks playing at the show. The patch notes didn’t include specific unlock coordinates, and that’s because it does just unlock through the Hildibrand storyline.
Where to start Island Sanctuary quests in FFXIV patch 6.55
Head to your Island Sanctuary home away from home and speak to the Curious Courier (X12.4 Y28.7). A new quest has been added for your Warrior of Light to complete in their little slice of tranquil paradise.
You must have completed the previous quest of “The Sweetest Thing” before you can pick up this new quest, which is called “Where Worries Melt Away.”
Another welcome tweak to Island Sanctuary comes in the form of a newly added pop-up window, which will appear when a building’s construction or renovation has been completed.
New items in FFXIV patch 6.55
From housing items to mounts, there’s no shortage of new additions with Patch 6.55, including something I’ve personally been waiting a long time for — a backpack!
While we won’t reveal information as to how these are acquired, you can take an educated guess or just check out our more in-depth round-up. Otherwise, the photos speak for themselves:
