As part of the update that brought us Dawntrail, a new glamour slot was added to Final Fantasy XIV — Facewear. These items replace those previously in the Fashion Accessory category, but there’s also some new ones to be found if you know where to look.
There are currently a total of 10 Facewear items available in Final Fantasy XIV, although more will likely be added in future patches. As such, this guide will be updated to include all newly added Facewear items when they’re added.
Facewear items from the pre-FFXIV 7.0 update
If you had spectacles before the 7.0 launch, you can easily get them back. Once retrieved from a Calamity Salvager, they will automatically become Facewear items with 12 different color options.
The following Facewear items can be retrieved from a Calamity Salvager if you had them before the slot was unlocked in Dawntrail:
- False Oval Spectacles
- False Shaded Spectacles
- False Classic Spectacles
- Rose-colored Spectacles
Purchase Facewear using MGP in FFXIV
If you want to expand your collection of shades, you can purchase a range of Facewear items at the Gold Saucer. To do this, talk to the Prize Attendant in the Gold Saucer (X:5.1, Y:6.6).
Here’s all of the Facewear you can get and how much it costs:
- The Faces We Wear – Contemporary Pince-nez (40,000 MGP)
- The Faces We Wear – Minstrel’s Spectacles (90,000 MGP)
- The Faces We Wear – Oval Spectacles (100,000 MGP)
- The Faves We Wear – Rimless Glasses (70,000 MGP)
- The Faces We Wear – Thick-rimmed Glasses (30,000 MGP)
Facewear obtained from vendors in FFXIV
There are a few different types of Facewear which can be purchased from the following vendors:
- Maisenta in New Gridania (X:11.5, Y:11.2)
- Bango Zango in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:9.9, Y:11.4)
- Roarich in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:10.6, Y:9.5)
The facewear you can purchase from these vendors are:
- The Faces We Wear – Monocles (3,000 Gil)
- The Faces We Wear – Simple Spectacles (3,000 Gil)
Other ways to get Facewear in FFXIV
Through Trisassant in Old Sharlayan (X:12.0, Y:13.3), you can get a pair of The Faces We Wear – Rose-colored Spectacles if you didn’t already have them before 7.0. These cost 3 Rokkon Potsherds each, so you’ll need to unlock and run the variant dungeon Mount Rokkon before you can purchase these.
The hardest to obtain Facewear item is currently The Faces We Wear – Classic Spectacles. These are obtained through Submarine Ventures. To get them, you’ll need to be a part of an FC which has a rank 91 Submarine, and send it out on a Venture to Anthemoessa.
