FFXIV 6.55 Tataru’s Grand Endeavor quest guide

Home is where your friends are

With her grand ideas and busy schedule, Tataru has been busy of late but don’t worry, Mehdjina has some big ideas of her own in the 6.55 update to Tataru’s Grand Endeavor. Here’s where to start and what you get for completing the sidequest.

The first quest in the 6.55 update to the Tataru’s Grand Endeavor side quest is called “Treasured Bonds“. To pick it up, talk to Mehdjina (X11.9 Y9.8) in Old Sharlayan.

She’s had a grand idea of her own and wants to create a uniform for the academics in The Studium. A vaguely familiar face will also appear in this quest in the form of Hasdahd, one of the Hannish folk we met a while back during the MSQ.

Following the cutscene, head to The Studium and talk to Mehdjina (X4.4 Y9.1). She soon realises that her plans to create one uniform for everyone in The Studium isn’t the best idea, because they all need vastly different things.

Following some dejection on her part, Hasdahd will provide something of a pep talk and convince her that perhaps the best move for two people feeling so far removed from their home is to visit it.

Head to Tataru’s store and speak to Hasdahd (X11.8 Y9.9), which will trigger a cutscene during which Tataru will offer words of encouragement to our two young friends, before heading down to Scholar’s Harbor and talking to Hasdahd (X12.9 Y13.7) again. You’ll be transported to Radz-at-Han in order to catch your ‘connecting flight’.

Once in Radz-at-Han, talk to Mehdjina (X8.5 Y15.6), triggering a cutscene.

Once the cutscene is over, you’ll be in Palaka’s Stand. Head to the destination (X29.6 Y15.4) and interact with it to finish “Treasured Bonds”

To begin this quest, speak with Hasdahd (X29.5 Y16.0) in Palaka’s Stand. Once you’ve picked up the quest and gone through a cutscene, you’ll need to talk to three villagers:

  • Qeryde (X29.9 Y16.1)
  • Utpala (X30.1 Y16.9)
  • Viraban (X29.0 Y17.0)

Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to accompany Hasdahd and Mehdjina to The Shroud of the Samgha to pay respect to their parents, who did not survive the Final Days. Along the way, there will be a talking point at (X30.3 Y20.5) where you can discuss the Shroud.

Once you’ve reached the end of your journey South, talk to Hasdahd (X32.3 Y26.1) while inside the location circle. This will trigger a cutscene, after which you will be back in Palaka’s Stand.

Talk to Yuruvvet (X29.5 Y16.0) to trigger another cutscene. The idea is hatched for Tataru’s Store in Old Sharlayan to begin selling small handicrafts made by the villagers of Palaka’s Stand in order to fund their restoration efforts, while helping those who are away from their home feel more connected to their friends and families.

Return to Old Sharlayan and talk to Mehdjina (X11.9 Y9.8) in her usual spot at Tataru’s Store, where you’ll be asked to inscribe the symbol of Nald’thal on the back of her necklace, which is finally finished.

Once you’ve done this, head down to Scholar’s Harbor and speak with Mehdjina (X8.5 Y15.6) again in order to trigger another cutscene showing Tataru’s receipt of the necklace – be sure to have some tissues handy.

How to get Wayfarer’s Barding and Tataru’s Bespoke Framer’s Kit

Once that cutscene is over, return to Tataru’s store and talk to Mehdjina in her usual spot for the final time. She relents that the team didn’t have time to provide us with anything in terms of a gift for our hard work, but Tataru comes to the rescue with the rewards for completing this quest:

  • Wayfarer’s Barding
  • Tataru’s Bespoke Framer’s Kit

She also promises that while we may be travelling to the other side of the world soon, we can’t get rid of her that easily and she will still be enlisting our help in future
