New psychological horror game for PC
Zombie Studios has shared details and screenshots for its procedurally-generated horror title Daylight, but now we’re getting to see the Unreal Engine 4 game in motion. While the video is indeed a teaser, it should help put meaning to all of the promising words said about the PC game so far. One step closer to that spring 2013 launch.
To reiterate, you play as a nameless character trying to escape from an asylum. You won’t have actual weapons (though flares can scare off phantoms) and the story of Deadlight is told through found items, with the hope being that you’ll piece together much of the narrative over the course of a few playthroughs. It’s being developed by a handful of folks at Zombie who worked on the F.E.A.R., Condemned, and Saw franchises.
I recently got to speak with studio head and creative director Jared Gerritzen as well as writer Jessica Chobot about Daylight, so check back tomorrow for that interview. I was already looking forward to the game, but after hearing about it in-depth — especially more on what, specifically, is procedural and how that lends itself well to the genre — the project seems promising. Should you be attending PAX East, swing by the ASTRO Gaming booth (#668) to try out the alpha build.
