Which is great news for its longevity
Evil Dead is one of those entities that I just can’t shake (not that I’m trying to), and all these years later, a whole lot of other people still seem to feel the same way. It’s just special, you know? And that adoration extends beyond the movies and show into feeling pretty welcoming toward Evil Dead: The Game, despite the fact that I could take or leave most multiplayer horror games. If they take the time to get it right, it could be decent.
Speaking of which, Saber Interactive has delayed Evil Dead: The Game out of this year, and the new window (across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch) is February 2022.
On Twitter, the development team cited a need for the usual “extra time for polish,” as well as an opportunity to add new functionality to the co-op/PvP game: “a single-player option that will let you enjoy the game when you are without your co-op compadres.”
Evil Dead: The Game will be releasing in February 2022
Hey groovy gamers, we're targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time for polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience youāre all waiting for! pic.twitter.com/c5I4OSQshA— EvilDeadTheGame (@EvilDeadTheGame) August 5, 2021
“We want to thank everyone for your understanding and support and please stay tuned for more information about new character updates, pre-order availability, and the next gameplay video featuring Bruce Campbell,” the team added.
The ability to play solo is important in general, and it only becomes more useful as the general population moves away. These games ā well, all but the most popular ones, likeĀ Dead by Daylight ā have a limited shelf life. Even though you kind of know that going in, any alternate modes, or options, or customization tools can go a long way.
I’m not expecting this to be a game we remember fondly a decade later ā there’s more of a fleeting-fun-at-best vibe going on here ā but at least they’ve got some entertaining character picks lined up. Pablo has a spot on my team any day. Lord Arthur, too.
