Welcome to Mega City

Fortnite Mega was teased recently, and now it’s here! It’s funny how quickly those Fortnite updates sneak up on ya. Let’s dig into everything Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 related, and what makes this season “Mega.”

When did Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 launch?

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 launched on March 10, 2023 at approximately 7AM ET, following downtime.

This was following the end of Chapter 4 Season 1 (slightly earlier than expected) on March 8.

What makes this season Mega, and what’s the new theme?

While roughly 75% of the island is the same as Chapter 4 Season 1, there are several new zones to explore in the southeast quadrant of the map (Steamy Springs, Drift Ridge, Kenjutsu Crossing, and of course, the big Mega City hub) that comprise a collective Neo-Tokyo aesthetic. Grind rails are readily available in these zones, some of which have challenges/quests tied to them (like hitting specific targets, or healing/regaining shield while grinding).

Here are some other fast-facts about the new season:

  • There are seven new augments (including Munitions Slide, Shotgun Recycle, and Dignified Finish)
  • The Kinetic Blade katana makes an appearance, and has a knockback slash (tied to a cooldown and charges, like the Shockwave Hammer from last season)
  • The Rogue Bike motorcycle and the Nitro Drifter car are the new vehicles this season
  • Other weapons added this season include the Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle, the Havoc Pump Shotgun, and the Overclocked Pulse Rifle
  • Unvaulted weapons include the Heavy Sniper Rifle, Cobra DMR, Dragon’s Breath Sniper, and the Combat Shotgun
  • Returning from the prior season are: the Maven Auto Shotgun, the Red-Eye Assault Rifle, the Twin Mag SMG, and the Tactical Pistol (as well as the Chug Cannon)

The new battle pass includesĀ Attack on Titan hero Eren Jaeger

AsĀ Attack on Titan continues its curtain call with a trillion “final season” parts, series hero Eren Jaeger is making his way intoĀ Fortnite later this season as a bonus drop (similar how how Geralt from The Witcher arrived last season).

Eren Jaeger will arrive 36 days from the current season launch, on April 15, 2023.

There are no licensed characters in the season/battle pass this time by default.

Thank the Busdriver returns as a Milestone in Chapter 4 Season 2

After an annoying absence, the “Thank the Bus Driver” milestone returns in Chapter 4 Season 2.

Now you can press the down d-pad button (by default on consoles) to thank the driver, and make progress toward more XP. Make sure you do it at the start of every match!

When does Chapter 4 Season 2 ofĀ Fortnite end?

And that’s most of the big stuff!

Expect the end of Chapter 4 Season 2 to arrive on June 2, until further notice.
