We’ve still got a while to go before Monster Hunter Wilds releases officially, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to get excited about. The recently announced Open Beta Test is on its way, where you can earn an exclusive bonus and test out the game early.
If you’re curious about what to expect for this beta test, you’re not alone. We’ve got all the details for you, with all the game modes included in the Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds.
What game modes are in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test?
There are three different modes you’ll be able to test out if you’ve downloaded the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Character Creation
- Story Trial
- Doshaguma Hunt
Each one lets you enjoy an early look at the upcoming Monster Hunter title during the scheduled times, although it is an early look. Some features may not be complete, and certain aspects of the game may be changed before the final release.
The point of the open beta is also to gauge the network, so don’t be surprised if there are operation issues as well.
Character Creation
If you join in on the Open Beta Test, you’ll get full access to Monster Hunter Wilds’ character creator, including the full suite of features. This in-depth creator lets you change everything about your character’s appearance, from their hair color to what race they are. You’ll also be able to customize your Palico.
During the beta test, you can remake your hunter as many times as you’d like, with no limitations. If you really love your creation, you’ll be able to carry it with you over to the full release of the game in February 2025.
Story Trial
The beta test includes the game’s opening cutscene and gameplay through the first hunt, the Chatacabra hunt. It also includes basic tutorials to help you get accustomed to gameplay.
You’ll be able to get a solid feel for the game’s weapons mechanics and experience the smooth transitions between gameplay and animated cutscenes.
Doshaguma Hunt
The Doshaguma Hunt lets you fight and defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack, letting you get a better feel for the combat. You’ll be able to switch between two weapon types for the hunt and explore the area on your Seikret.
Both the Story Trial and Doshaguma Hunt will include SOS Flares, allowing you to call for help from NPC hunters or online players. You will be able to play in up to parties of three. You’ll even be able to enjoy crossplay during the Open Beta Test, so you can play with friends on other platforms.
The Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds will run from October 31 to November 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. For PlayStation Plus members, an exclusive early access play will also be available from October 28 to October 30.
