Even after seven minutes of briefing, I have no idea what Death Stranding is about

Newest trailer sure is pretty, though

It’s not quite the 49 minutes of footage teased, but Kojima Productions has shared the intro briefing cinematic from Death Stranding and I still have no idea what the hell is going on. First Lady Amelie (played by Lindsay Wagner) has contacted Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) to find her misplaced body on the shore somewhere so that she can continue living and running the country. Meanwhile, Die-Hardman (Tommie Earl Jenkins) is the leader of the BRIDGES operation that puts people in shackles to order them around…I think.

Look, I don’t have any clear answers for you. I watched this whole trailer, took in every detail, drooled over Norman Reedus a bit, and I can’t make heads or tails of the plot. Kojima is likely trying to write some parable about the beauty of life and the simplicity we’ve lost over the years, but it’s full of all kinds of nonsense and military technobabble. This is clearly both a social and political commentary on our current society taking place between two alternate realms where you carry a baby around the USA and pee on mystical mushrooms. Kojima unhinged, I suppose.

While this trailer hasn’t exactly cleared things up, we’ve still got nearly an hour of footage to dig into. With the Tokyo Game Show starting up, we’ll be learning more this weekend.
