Industry villain plays hero to fledgling event
Gaymercon, the world’s first gay-centric videogame convention, has received support from a major player. Electronic Arts, already the publisher of gay-friendly games like Mass Effect 3, has thrown its hat into the ring and will be lending its power to the event.
“EA believes that to be truly innovative, you must be inclusive,” stated EA’s Ginger Maseda. “We are proud to be a part of this event.”
Both Microsoft and Penny Arcade are supporting the event, too. Hopefully these companies are the first of many.
My hatred for EA’s business practices are well documented, but it’s always demonstrated itself to be very supportive of gay issues and one of the more progressive companies out there. On that count, I cannot fault the company one iota. Good stuff.
