EA had high hopes for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but its expectations have been surpassed. Respawn’s singleplayer narrative-driven Star Wars game has already outperformed its sales targets.

In EA’s recent third quarter financial earnings call, CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the internal projection for Jedi: Fallen Order‘s sales was between six and eight million copies by the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2020). Already, Jedi: Fallen Order has broken the eight million threshold, and Jorgensen expects it’ll reach 10 million by the time April rolls around.

Respawn has to be in EA’s good graces, given the success of both Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends. Regarding the latter, EA says that Apex Legends has been growing as of late, with Season 3’s daily user count outpacing Season 2’s. But the real revelation with Respawn is that given Jedi: Fallen Order‘s sales, a sequel seems inevitable. Or, at the very least, Respawn will likely be given another crack at creating a story within the Star Wars universe.
