EA FC 25’s Rush Mode set to introduce Blue Cards and 1-v-1 penalty kicks

Rush will either be a game-changer, or a disaster.

The Rush game mode could become one of the most popular pieces of addition in EA FC 25, and EA Sports has shared deep dive details about what to expect.

For the first time, the developers decided to showcase some of the core aspects of the shortened game mode, which can be seen as the replacement for Volta. The 5v5 mode seems to offer some really exciting content as far as matchmaking is concerned. A new type of penalty kick and Blue Cards are just some of the additions coming to EA FC 25‘s Rush.

EA FC 25’s Rush Mode looks like a miniature version of football

Unlike a standard match, the Rush Mode matches will take place in a customized field designed by Nike. The smaller field will lead to more direct action, as matches will be quicker (7 minutes and no half-time). New offside and set-piece rules will be applicable.

While there are no Red cards, you can get a Blue card with a poor challenge. A Blue card will result in a temporary suspension, which will be over if the timer runs out or your team concedes a goal. A team must have at least two outfield players on at all times (failure to do so will automatically forfeit the match).

All free-kicks will be indirect, and the penalty system will involve a player taking a 1-on-1 duel with the goalkeeper. In simpler words, it’s the same system you can find in penalty shootouts in field hockey.

The core mantra of Rush mode is to co-op

The Rush Mode will be implemented across all content, including Ultimate Team and FC Clubs. In Ultimate Team, you’ll select a card from your squad and form a team with three other friends to play with. In many ways, it’s a great change if you’re tired of the toxicity that surrounds Division Rivals and Champions Finals.

Similar systems will be applicable in FC Clubs and Manager mode, and players will benefit from using pings and quick chat as well. The presence of quick chat will help you to communicate on the fly with your teammates, and the ping system allows you to indicate your possible movement or where you want the ball to be played.

Additionally, a dedicated Rush training mode is going to be available in EA FC 25, helping you learn all the nuances. On paper, Rush Mode does look exciting to me, and it could be a game-changer for a player looking to have fun without feeling the weight of grind on their shoulders.
