Youthcat Studios released a trailer detailing the upcoming free update to Dyson Sphere Program titled Rise of the Dark Fog. The update adds a rather intense-looking combat system to the popular intergalactic factory simulation title. Players who already own Dyson Sphere Program will receive the update for free when it launches in December of this year.
It looks like a bold addition to Dyson Sphere Program, which currently has no other sort of threat to building your factories. Well, other than logistic and supply issues, of course. According to Youthcat the AI for the new Darkfog enemy will expand in response to your progress throughout the game. Defensive towers must be built to protect your factories from the Darkfog as they ramp up their attacks.
Who invited the Darkfog?
A new Planetary Shield structure can also be built that will protect your planet from Darkfog units that will specifically aim to take out your planetary structures from afar. Also, a new Auto-Rebuild technology can be upgraded to automatically reconstruct destroyed buildings.
It’s certainly an exciting new addition to Dyson Sphere Program. Based on the video, it looks like the battle against the Darkfog can get pretty intense. Nothing is worse than having hours of work disappear, so it’s nice to see them being practice with the auto-rebuild system.
If you haven’t played Dyson Sphere Program before and are a fan of games like Factorio and Satisfactory, I definitely recommend checking it out. The goal is to start on a single planet before colonizing several star systems and eventually building a Dyson Sphere. It’s rather impressive how seamlessly you can traverse between each planet to build an intergalactic empire. It’s a pretty lengthy journey to get to the point where you can harness the power of the sun. Unfortunately I never got to that point, but I have been waiting for this update to try again.
The free Rise of the Darkfog update will hit Dyson Sphere Program in December 2023. Dyson Sphere Program is currently available via Steam.
