Brighter Shores has been attracting plenty of gamers with its simple yet creative take on games like Runescape, and some have been wondering if PvP is present in the current build.
Although available as free-to-play for all, Brighter Shores is very much an early-access title. That’s not just based on its status on Steam – you’ll feel the need for further polish across all gameplay elements. Naturally, new game modes will eventually arrive as part of future updates, and sadly, players will have to hold tight for the time being if they plan to take on each other.
When will Brighter Shores get PvP
If you still haven’t figured out the answer from the intro section itself, Brighter Shores doesn’t have a PvP. In fact, no currently available game mode remotely pits you against another player (be it in the form of direct combat or in the form of passive competitions).
So far, the early access build allows you to explore four different regions, where you can complete several quests. The Hopeport and Hopeforest regions are available to all, and you can experience it fully even if you continue to stay free-to-play. Subscribing to the Premium Pass will unlock two extra regions for you (including new professions and quests).
Unless something radically changes during the development phase, Brighter Shores will have PvP combat in the future. This information is confirmed by the game’s Steam page. According to the developers, the game is expected to remain in early access for at least six months, which could be extended.
One of three key additions planned for early access is PvP combat, so it might not take too long for the developers to implement it. Unless there are no major roadblocks in development, I believe that it might be as early as January 2025. If early access sticks true to what’s mentioned, early access should be over by the end of April 2025.
It will be interesting to find out more about what PvP would look like in Brighter Shores and how fair it will be for those who choose to stay free-to-play. Additionally, a player-to-player trade system is expected to be made available in future updates.
