Dialogue-heavy games occasionally include more than one ending to their story. Were you good? Evil? Or did you get the bad ending because you didn’t collect all the hidden feathers? Alan Wake 2 boasts enough mystery and dialogue to suggest multiple endings, but does it?
Remedy Entertainment is quite famous for its story-rich games. Alan Wake, Control, and now, Alan Wake 2 are dense in metaphorical prose and supernatural enigma. Despite this, Remedy has staunchly kept to a tightly focused narrative. Both Alan Wake and Control may exist in the same universe, but each has one story to tell and one ending.
Alan Wake 2 follows suit and doesn’t include multiple endings. Once you reach the conclusion (as it is currently), that’s it; the credits roll and there is no going back to attempt an ending that makes a bit more sense. Even if that’s what you want.
Will the DLC include a new ending for Alan Wake 2?
We’ve discussed the ending of Alan Wake 2 in length already, but that isn’t where Remedy will leave it. The developer is planning to continue the game’s story via post-launch DLC. There are still a lot of dangling threads in need of tying up, after all.
The DLC is reportedly “pretty significant,” split between two free expansions: Night Springs and The Lake House. Night Springs is scheduled to arrive in spring 2024 and will let you play as āseveral familiar characters from the world of Alan Wakeā in a series of self-contained stories.
The latter expansion, The Lake House, sounds more like a continuation of the story. Alan and Saga will be playable once more, but we don’t have much info beyond that fact. With how Alan Wake 2 ended, no doubt many players are eager to know what will happen next. Hopefully, it’ll be soon. So long as it doesn’t take another 13 years.
