Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Wolf of the Wilds quest guide

Oooh, scary

Now that you’ve unlocked Merida as a villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s time to expand beyond The Bind and explore the rest of the Storybook Vale. Your next stop is Everafter, a gloomy forest reminiscent of the Forgotten Lands.

Entering the first region of the Everafter, Wild Woods, immediately starts the Wolf of the Wilds quest, where you’ll discover a peculiar magical structure. Here’s a complete walkthrough of this mission, including how to unlock your first Fairy Tale Trial gate.

The Wolf of the Wilds quest walkthrough

Upon stepping into the Wild Woods, you’ll immediately find your first objective of this quest, asking you to explore the region. There’s a lot to unpack here, from baby dragons flying around to small frogs leaping about. However, our destination is a small building in the southern part of the area that you can access via a ramp.

Once you clear out the ink blocking access to the ramp, head down to find a peculiar gateway and pedestal. Rather than investigating it yourself, you’ll need to talk to the Lorekeeper.

Upon returning to the Library of Lore, talk to the Lorekeeper book again to hear more about the Everafter. You’ll mention the gateway, revealing that it’s a Fairy Tale Trial waiting to test your abilities. The book will also share insight into the lore of Maleficent’s castle and its effects on Everafter, which you can either learn about or skip right into your next task. Either way, the Lorekeeper will tell you to revisit Merida.

Once you arrive back in the Wild Woods with Merida, the two of you will notice some howling and pawprints in the grass. Uh oh! Although she’s understandably scared of the situation, you have a few choices for navigating the situation, ranging from naĆÆve optimism to equal amounts of fear. Venturing down the path, you’ll see more paw prints but not much else.

Surprised, Merida will comment on the Fairy Tale Trial gateway, commenting that your Royal Net may be enough to unlock it. First, you’ll both have to search for a missing wheel, which you can find by following the paw prints to a purple bush.

Place it on the pedestal and give it a big horizontal swing with your net to end the Wolf of the Wilds quest, gain some friendship points with Merida, and immediately begin the A Sheep in Wolfā€™s Clothing mission.
