Disney Dreamlight Valley dropped an update today featuring a new roadmap and other features coming to the game very soon, including some frankly long overdue quality of life updates and long awaited new characters.

When the blog post was shared via the official Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord server, the number of people trying to gain access to the website rendered it completely broken. For a while, trying to visit the site would provide you with nothing more than a Bad Gateway error, but this thankfully seems to be fixed now.

The most exciting part of this update from Gameloft was the new roadmap, which reveals the introduction of many new characters in the coming months.

For starters, Tiana will indeed be coming to the Valley before the end of August, and she’ll be bringing Tiana’s Palace with her, along with some new outdoor décor items. Alongside the introduction of this latest princess, we’ll have a new 1920s inspired Star Path event to take part in. There is as yet no information regarding either Naveen or Ray, sadly.

For those with the Rift in Time DLC, Jafar’s evil plot will finally be thwarted and the first Rift in Time storyline will be coming to a close. More updates about this particular part of the update are promised in the coming weeks.

Then, in October, the long-awaited and beloved duo Timon and Pumba will finally be making their valley debut. You’ll be able to get them in your valley by revisiting the Lion King Realm to pick up their quests.

Finally, it looks as though Jack will finally be getting reunited with Sally in the later months of 2024. While she isn’t mentioned by name, there is no mistaking her iconic dress in the final picture of the roadmap. It’s strange that Sally wouldn’t be introduced as part of a Halloween update, considering her origins, but I for one am simply excited to see the love-struck pair together at last.

Quality of life updates coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the most exciting parts of this update, outside of the new characters of course, is what appears to be a search function which will be added to the Furniture and Clothing menus. This is a much requested feature from players, myself among them, to help find a particular item in the long list of items you own.

If you’re a PlayStation player, you can finally look forward to cross-platform multiplayer, letting you visit the valleys of friends who play on Switch or PC and enjoy all of the features that PC players are currently able to enjoy with friends.

It’s nice to see that these requested features are finally coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley, and it makes me hopeful for further quality of life updates in the future. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be able to place furniture off the grid one day, or is that just too much wishful thinking on my part?
