Capcom has nothing to cry about with the Devil May Cry franchise (I made a funny joke), because the ludicrous action series has just recently shipped its 10 millionth copy. Hurray!

The most recent of the games, Devil May Cry 4, accounts for 2.2 million of that figure, but Capcom isn’t sharing details of any of the other games. It’s also worth pointing out that the announcement concerns shipments, not sales, as some are reporting. Capcom was quick to note that DMC 4 achieved its numbers “despite being released early in the life cycle of the current generation of systems.” Capcom is just showing off.

As a big fan of the Devil May Cry series, this makes me happy, as does Capcom’s promise that “more franchise-related products” are on the way. DMC 4 wasn’t quite as good as its predecessor, but was still a fun ride, and I hope we see plenty more of gaming’s most flamboyantly stupid action series soon.
