As Matt showed us over the weekend, WarioWare D.I.Y. is going to be the next big thing for creative types. This is made even more clear by today’s announcement that a handful of big-name developers will be contributing to the microgame madness.

Starting next Monday, March 29 with games from designers Masahiro Sakurai (Super Smash Bros.) and Yoshio Sakamoto (Metroid), new microgames will be released for use in both WarioWare D.I.Y. and D.I.Y. Showcase for WiiWare every Monday under the “Big Name Games” banner until July 26.

Other developers taking part in this experiment include: Pixel aka Daisuke Amaya (Cave Story), 5th Cell (Scribblenauts), WayForward (A Boy and his Blob), Gaijin Games (the BIT.TRIP series) and Team Meat (Super Meat Boy).

Best of all, these downloadable games will be one-hundred percent free — you only need one of the two aforementioned games and a reliable Internet connection. So very awesome, isn’t it? Props to Nintendo for organizing this whole thing.
