Destiny 2: Into the Light Attunement Explained

Even the odds.

When it’s not actively trying to reset your ability loadouts, Destiny 2: Into The Light is proving to be a delight for both veteran players and newcomers alike. One of its best features is the new Attunement functionality, though, which allows you to narrow down your loot pool.

As confusing as some of Into The Light‘s weapon choices may be, I’m hard-pressed to agree that all of the returning weapons are remarkable in their own right. Farming for the best rolls, whether god-tier or not, is bound to grow more and more tiring as we keep coming back to the new Onslaught game mode over and over (and over) again. That’s where Attunement comes into the picture, allowing you to substantially increase the odds of a specific weapon dropping for you. This functionality isn’t unlocked by default, though, so roll up your sleeves and prepare to lay down some elbow grease: it’s grind o’clock.

How Destiny 2’s Attunement system works

The only way to unlock Attunement for a specific weapon is to complete its dedicated Brave Quest via Arcite 99-40, right next to Shaxx in the Hall of Heroes. With 12 weapons to chase after (as opposed to the list of 40 that Bungie started out with), I’d like to warn you right off the bat that you’re looking at a substantial grind if you want to be able to Attune each and every one of them.

To get your first Attunement going, visit Arcite 99-40 and pick up one (or all) of his Brave Quests. Then, strap right in, open up your favourite kill-grinding spot, and get to work. After you’ve completed your selected Brave Quest’s main objective, you’ll have your Attunement ready to go, allowing you to increase the given weapon’s drop rate by a whopping 50%.

To apply a specific Attunement, you’re going to want to walk up to the given holo-statue of Lord Shaxx himself and activate it: finding the correct holo-statue is easy, as not only will the Brave Quest marker lead you right up to it, but you can also easily spot whether the given statue is holding the weapon you’d like to Attune in the first place.

After that’s all done, you’ll have a way better chance for your desired Brave weapon to drop from any of the Brave Engrams you come across, as well as from any and all Onslaught completions you may rack up. Keep in mind that, as of April 12, not all 12 Brave Quests are available. Instead, Bungie has time-gated many fan-favorite weapons until April 30. That does suck, yes, but keep in mind that it’s a compromise. Bungie’s original plan was to drip-feed us Brave gear until May 21, so at least it’s not quite as bad as it should’ve been.
