Unlocking the mysteries of Destiny 2‘s Season 22 eventually leads players to an enigmatic destination known as The Imbaru Engine. Over time, the locale has evolved beyond the initial puzzle it offered. Now, if Guardians can solve its enigmas, they’ll be treated to a glimpse of what’s to come in Season 23.

The Cunning Test

The first Test in The Imbaru Engine is designed to challenge player perceptions. Hive symbols appear on plates that point toward chests. The correct chests are always marked by Hive symbols that look like an X with a stake through it.

Though chest locations randomize with each run, certain Ghost mods can still help. The correct choices will lead to the completion of The Mother Morph Triumph. Guardians can venture through the large entryway toward The Imbaru Engine’s next Test.

The Strength Test

Before players can participate in The Imbaru Engine’s next Test, they’ll need to head into SavathĆ»n’s Spire. Before the activity’s final portal, a secret Opaque Card rests on the right side of the room. After visiting the Lectern, return to The Imbaru Engine and skip The Cunning Test to find The Strength Test door.

The puzzle in The Strength Test tasks Guardians with eliminating the right enemies in the right order. Players can start by activating the Deepsight node and finding the Hive Knight the tracks lead to. Once the first Knight is eliminated, follow the direction of the rune it was standing on. This is repeated until players defeat three Knights. From there, the game will continue with Cursed Thralls. For these, the same rules apply, but Guardians must skip over the next enemy after each Cursed Thrall kill.

Completing this Test awards players the Knight Morph Triumph and allows further passage through The Imbaru Engine.

The Navigation Test

Like The Strength Test, The Navigation Test requires some legwork before players can participate. This time, Guardians must venture into The Altars of Summoning. In the Altar of Flesh arena within the activity, locate the large statue centered on the battlefield. Shoot the Void crystal in the statue’s hands to uncover another Opaque Card, then claim “A Gift of the Navigation” at the Lectern.

Players can return to The Imbaru Engine and pass the Cunning and Strength Tests. The Navigation Test asks Guardians to play a game of Simon Says with a twist. The Test occurs in a circular chamber lined with doors adorned with elemental Hive runes. Shooting a rune with a weapon matching the depicted element activates the doorway. The object of the Test is to navigate through the correct set of doors, with a death resetting progress.

If players turn around, they’ll see that the entrance they initially passed through is also marked by a rune. However, in this case, it will just have one instead of three. This tells players which rune they’ll need to shoot. For example, if the entrance shows an Arc rune on the left side, only one other doorway will also have an Arc rune in the same place.

Players will have to go through four doors before the Test is complete. And some will throw curve balls, like stacking the real runes behind impersonators. The correct order to shoot runes is a left-side Arc rune, a Solar up top, a right-side Void rune hidden behind an Arc rune, and the second-from-the-left Solar rune. Success leads to the King Morph triumph.

Rekindling the flame

With all Tests complete, players may have noticed the unused portal outside The Navigation Test. But players will need one last Opaque Card first. The “A Parting Gift” Card can be found at the Altar of Feracity within the Altars of Summoning. It’s in plain sight atop a pillar. After a visit to the Lectern of Divination, players can head back to The Navigation Test, skipping everything in between.

Guardians can now enter that mirror portal to reach a room with braziers. Each brazier notes clues that lead to a Deepsight node that, in turn, brings players to another brazier. Activating these allows Guardians to return to the mirror room and rekindle the corresponding flame.

Flame 1

The first flame can be found back at the beginning of The Imbaru Engine. In the same area where Guardians completed The Cunning Test, a Deepsight node will now appear. Activating the node materializes several small platforms, leading to the brazier.

Flame 2

The next flame is located within the Altars of Summoning. After loading in, Guardians can spot a Deepsight node in front of the large spire holding the Altar of the Sword. Once activated, platforms will appear that allow players to navigate around the side of the structure and locate another brazier.

Flame 3

The final flame is nestled within SavathĆ»n’s Spire. After making it most of the way through, the Deepsight node appears just before traversing the last Hive rune door. As before, platforms will appear and guide players toward the hidden brazier.

Truth and Lies

With all flames active, Guardians can travel to the Imbaru Engine for the last time. Returning to the mirror room, players can light the braziers and watch a new door open before them. The revealed chamber holds SavathĆ»n’s final Test, and it’s a doozy.

The chamber is lit up with Hive runes all around, and the triangle symbol at the back of the room asks that Guardians “Submit your final tribute.” On the left and right side of the room, there are statues that can be interacted with that “Unveil the Truth” and “Unveil the Lie.”

Players must interact with the correct Hive runes on the chamber walls before using the triangle to submit their answers. Facing the triangle, on the left side of the room, activate the “burger” rune. On the right side, interact with the two runes furthest toward the right.

Now, flip perspective and look back toward the previous brazier room. On the left side, activate the symbol that looks like an equals sign on top of a stool and the one with two vertical dashes atop a platform. For the right side, it’ll be the two right-most runes.

Once a rune is activated, it will come alight with Hive Soulfire, so ensuring that runes have been successfully interacted with is easy. With the choices dialed in, players can submit their final tribute. This will reveal a small chamber and officially complete The Imbaru Engine. Alongside the lore surprise, Guardians will also earn the A Parting Gift triumph, a new emblem, a shader, and miscellaneous seasonal rewards.
