Destiny 2: How To Farm Spectral Pages

Farming can be such a page-turner

Spectral Pages fuel quite a few of Destiny 2‘s Festival of the Lost milestones. That said, it’s not the Spectral Pages themselves that Guardians need. Rather, the Manifested Pages they become after a successful foray into the Halloween-themed Haunted Lost Sectors. However, players may find that the seasonal currency doesn’t appear nearly as much as desired. And that can be an issue, as a total of 126 Spectral Pages are required to complete the 2023 Book of the Forgotten.

Destiny 2 players participating in Festival of the Lost have plenty to sink their teeth into. From the returning activities to rewards like Exotic armor, the new Lost Memento, or spooky costumes, there’s a little for everybody. Of course, it’s much more difficult for Guardians to enjoy the festivities if they’re worried about Spectral Pages. And the drought can be felt even more so by those who’d grown used to easy and relied-upon farming techniques that no longer work. Thankfully, there are still a few Spectral Pages farming tips that can make the whole process a bit more manageable.

How to earn Spectral Pages normally

As one of the main currencies of Festival of the Lost, Spectral Pages are earned only during the Halloween-adjacent event. Before players can start figuring out their preferred strategy and stacking Pages, they must visit Eva Levante in the Tower. The holiday vendor will give Guardians a Quest that explains the processes for the event and offers a mask that allows for the collection of Festival of the Lost currencies. The mask is the most important piece to remember, as players won’t receive Spectral Pages, Eerie Engrams, or Candy without one equipped.

With a mask in hand, Guardians are poised to start earning. Though a mask ensures enemies drop Candy nearly anywhere in the game, Spectral Pages are a bit more particular. Namely, they drop from Activites. This can be Playlist Activities, like Strikes or Crucible, or group Activities like Raids, Dungeons, and Public Events.

A bug makes Terminal Overload an efficient Spectral Pages farm

Terminal Overload is, by far, the most time-efficient way for players to farm Spectral Pages. That said, it’s all because of a simple glitch that’s been present since the Activity debuted alongside the Lightfall expansion. All that’s required is for Guardians to hop onto their Sparrow after looting the final chests, speed out of the zone, and then return to the chests for more Spectral Pages. This can be repeated to loot the Terminal Overload chest up to three times. While players won’t get actual rewards for each return, the chest will pay out 3 Spectral Pages each trip. So, speedy Guardians shouldn’t have too much trouble nabbing 9 Spectral Pages per Terminal Overload.

Terminal Overload is an Activity that can be launched from Neomuna, Neptune. The location can rotate, but the task will remain the same: repel a Vex and Cabal assault. This plays out over multiple stages throughout the Activity, with the finale culminating in back-to-back boss fights. While a higher rank with Nimbus provides a direct Terminal Overload node on Neomuna’s map, the Activity is available even without meeting this milestone. Players won’t need anything special to participate in Terminal Overload aside from the Lightfall expansion and the mettle to take on Neomuna’s invaders. That said, it doesn’t hurt to have the Always On Time Sparrow to ensure Spectral Pages aren’t missed.

Public Events can be equally as lucrative

If Guardians don’t want to sully themselves by acquiring their Spectral Pages stash with the help of a bug, there are other options. The most attractive is through the oft-forgotten Public Events that transpire in every major Patrol Zone. Public Events require a little more active involvement and planning on the player’s part. But there’s no risk of loading out-manned into a Terminal Overload. Or missing out on extra Spectral Pages because of an unexpected deadly descent from the heights of Neomuna.

Players who want to take the Public Event path should consider a Patrol Zone like Nessus or The EDZ. Both locales are so big that they often house multiple events starting within a couple minutes of each other. This works to Guardians’ advantage, as it can be easy to chain several Public Events back to back with only a little planning. Players can expect 2-3 Spectral Pages per Public Event, with Heroic variations leaning more towards the higher reward.
