Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Armor 2023 – Halloween Armor Set

This year's theme is spooky bugs

As Season 22’s story comes to a close, Destiny 2 will soon see the return of the Festival of the Lost Halloween event. And, as with any Festival of the Lost celebration, Guardians will soon have some spooky new armor to consider.

Of course, the Halloween gear won’t be free. In years past, these premium cosmetic options have cost players a pretty sum. That said, there’s something special about 2023’s Festival of the Lost cosmetics. They represent choices from two distinct style options voted on by players. Though Bungie often lets players vote on a collection of apparel for the yearly event, this is the first time options from both sets will be available.

The Festival of the Lost event is Destiny 2‘s yearly Halloween event, coinciding with our real-life spooky season. While Bungie hasn’t confirmed exact event dates yet, holidays tend to run through the dwindling weeks of a season. The event sees the Tower redesigned in ghoulish decor, and Guardians can explore redecorated Lost Sectors as “Haunted” variants. Through these, players can track down hair-raising lore that sheds some light on the event’s unique enemies, the Headless Ones.

What armor is available for 2023’s Festival of the Lost?

Alongside notable event-only weapons, like 2022’s Mechabre sniper rifle, there are plenty of goodies for Guardians to seek out during the Festival of the Lost. Naturally, this means a bevy of themed Ghosts, Sparrows, Masks, emotes, and ships from Festivals past. On top of all these prizes, a premium Halloween-themed armor set is available via the Eververse store.

Back in January, Destiny 2 players were given a choice between two aesthetics for their 2023 Festival of the Lost armor. While both options shared the theme of creepy crawlies, the possibilities were between spider and beetle-themed gear. The arachnid gear is accented with extra limbs, multiple eyes, and spiny hairs. On the other hand, the beetle cosmetics feature carapace sections, horns, and folded wings. Though Bungie released concept images of what these armors could look like, it notes that final designs could change.

While Bungie has put up a vote for featured event cosmetics before, Bungie actually tallied results per class this time around. Previously, the results would culminate in one cosmetic theme across all Guardian classes. This time, Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks could vote just for their role. After tallying results, Bungie announced that Titans and Hunters could expect spider-themed armor for the event. Conversely, Warlocks will be the only class receiving a beetle-themed cosmetic set for the event.

How to get the 2023 Festival of the Lost armor

Traditionally, you’ll find Festival of the Lost armor exclusively through the Eververse store. These appearances come in the form of Ornaments, typically sold in a complete set, that you can apply to any corresponding piece of gear. While prices for the upcoming 2023 Ornaments have yet to be revealed, they’ll likely align with last year’s offerings.

In 2022, the Festival of the Lost armor could be purchased with either Bright Dust or Silver. If Guardians don’t mind spending some real-life money, the Silver route will cost around $15 for 1500 Silver. Alternatively, players can drop 6000 of the earnable in-game currency, Bright Dust. With such a significant sum, players hoping to use Bright Dust might want to start completing Seasonal Challenges and saving now.

Once players purchase the Ornament set via either currency option, they’ll want to unlock it through the Inventory’s Modifications tab. After this, Guardians can freely equip the look through the Appearance Customization menu. While these ornaments are owned forever once purchased and unlocked, they’re only available in Eververse throughout the window of Festival of the Lost.
