Late last year we told you about how the UK city of Derby was taking votes on what they should name a new road in town. There were a bunch of other stupid names like Sorocold Way, but the best one was a nod toward Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, as Core Design, the original creators of the game, were based there.
The voting is done, and I’m glad to say that the new Derby road will be named Lara Croft Way. More than 27,000 people voted, and a whopping 89% of them chose in favor of Ol’ Pointy Boobs McGee.
Councillor Lucy Care, cabinet member for planning and transportation, said: “The vote really captured the imagination of people from across the world and, despite my lack of gaming knowledge, I accept that a majority of 89% for Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore.”
Here’s something else you can’t ignore, Councillor Care: Lara Croft and Slave Leia in a snowball fight!
