Staggered release
Hitman is releasing on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, unfinished, on March 11 after being delayed from its December launch. It was always going to release unfinished, though, by design. The Hitman website explains.
March 11’s launch includes three locations – Paris, Sapienza and Marrakesh – and six campaign missions. Contracts mode offers “around 800 targets.” Then April, May and June will each see one new sandbox location.
“Each location will come with additional missions, signature kills and more Contracts targets – and of course new disguises, weapons and ways of taking out your target. April takes you to Thailand, May will see you visiting the United States of America and June sends you across the globe to Japan.”
As for buying in, plonking down $60 immediately gets you everything, including beta access (PC and PS4). The $35 “Intro Pack” gets you all the March launch content and if you want, you can upgrade that for an additional $30. Basically, you pay an extra $5 if you don’t trust IO from the get-go, provided you do like the game. Or, maybe you do like the game but still feel sated at $35. Not a bad system to test out, I suppose.
