DayZ Sakhal: How to find the Briefcases and Keys

The Frontline expansion in DayZ brings the Sakhal map to players, and the military briefcases are one of the best loots you can find on the frozen lands.

While the map is new, the core objective is pretty much the same – scavenge the lands and survive the horrors of the undead (and other players). Due to the hardcore nature of the Sakhal map, the military briefcases can provide you with the necessary survival items. But before you can find the briefcase, you’ll need to look up the keys (which are mandatory to open the valuable briefcases).

How to find the military briefcase key in DayZ: Sakhal

If you don’t know where to look for it, obtaining a military key can be pretty tricky. Thankfully, the map and video from so_LOKI_ng help you massively when you’re trying to find the keys. Do remember that finding the keys is harder, even though the briefcases spawn randomly.

Your target location for the keys is the mountain shown in this image. It should be relatively easy to reach, irrespective of where you’ve spawned on the coast. On the mountain, you will find a path to travel upwards. If you go to the location marked on the map, you’ll find a metal shaft. Inside, you’ll find a safe that contains the key.

It’s for the best to gear up to a decent level before you can go looking for the key. Having a gun is also preferable, which isn’t that difficult to do in Sakhal. You can read our guide to know more about finding guns on the new map.

How to find a military briefcase in DayZ: Sakhal

Once you’ve obtained the key, you’ll find electric poles going all the way around the mountains. These poles can be found in other military compounds as well. The idea is to follow the poles, and you will come across a dead scientist lying on the ground (as shown in the cover image).

Based on what the community has found, the locations of these briefcases are random, so you might have to travel for at least a few minutes before you can find the briefcase. The time taken might be less if you’re lucky. Make sure you have the key and don’t open the briefcase in the open. Instead, travel to a safe spot before opening it so that you don’t have to worry about any impending threat.
